Raised in Southern Minnesota and
professionally trained in photography, Joe's early
photography included work in the commercial photography
industry making catalog and architectural interiors
photographs.
Joe
has
used numerous camera formats, from 35mm to 8x10 sheet
film, to produce professional quality images. Currently,
he chooses to make photographs with a digital single
lens reflex camera (DSLR).
Creating images digitally is no different
than using traditional film equipment. It requires the
same creative spirit, knowledge of composition,
lighting, and color as well as the technical ability to
translate these into a visually pleasing image. His
images express powerful emotion that comes from years of
seeing with the photographer’s eye; something no formal
education can instill.
Joe's
prints are original photographs taken, carefully edited,
and printed by himself. The high quality prints are
produced using a commercial wide format printer
utilizing archival methods tested to endure for more
than 70 years before noticeable fading and/or changes in
color balance occur.
